Cry Aloud! Isaiah 58:1

The present day use of tracts by the church is scandalous.

First let us check our Bible to see how many times the word tract, tracts is used. (0)
Next let us check to see how many times the word preaching, preach, preached,  is used. (151)

  • Why do so many churches encourage handing out tracts?
  • Why not go out and preach on the streets?
  • Why will they not listen to good council?
  • Why will they not do what the Bible plainly says they should do?

Romans 10:14 How shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Deceived and being deceived, Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching, and all through the King James Bible we read about preaching. So why this prolific use of “tracts”? Why do churches and Christians spend so much money on “tracts” instead of relying on God’s Word, the Bible?

So many tracts have degenerated into cartoons, and silly drawings trying to illustrate the way to heaven as if our Bible is not good enough, and the unsaved cannot be convicted by the Word of God (KJV).

I have in my hand a “tract” given me by a missionary, a well meaning brother in the faith. The front has a cartoon character asking “Why am I so happy?” On the reverse it mentions being religious, and pursuing church activities, prayer, and how the exercise of all that was really trying  to do good. But then, someone shows him the Ten Commandments (Watch out, here comes the Ray Comfort doctrine) and how he failed “God’s Test”.  Brothers and Sisters the Ten Commandments is not a test you have to pass to get to Heaven. The tract ends saying, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”

The reader has been told that he has broken one or more of the Ten Commandments! He may reason that in order to believe it is necessary that he follows those commandments. Do you see the confusion that can exist when men decide to do it their own way instead of God’s way. Gods way is Preaching!

How about doing what the Bible says. How about praying for the power of the Spirit to witness by preaching the Gospel. Man does not go to hell because he failed to keep the ten commandments. He goes to hell because he rejects The Savior, Jesus Christ.

I use tracts (Not really a tract as such but a short sermons, written out, filled with Scripture) when I have to. And the tract is a full explanation of the Gospel, with lots of Scripture not cartoons or a few verses leaving that person to ponder; “How do I get saved”. In most cases I give someone two books of the Bible, John and Romans.

So why do we use so many of these tracts in the church today?
How does the Pastor get hooked into this method (Using tracts) to present the Gospel?

  • Following the lead of other Pastors (Faith in man)
  • Being deceived
  • Unable to be reproved (Pride)
  • Complacency
  • Lukewarm

How does the Christian get hooked into this method (Using tracts) to present the Gospel?

  • Following the lead of the Pastors (Faith in man)
  • Being deceived
  • Unable to be reproved (Pride)
  • Complacency
  • Lukewarm

Very simply put, we have not the power of the Holy Spirit for service, and we have not because we ask not.
I Thessalonians 1:5: For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

I Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Is there a Pastor in the house?
