He Took His Own Life
Some years ago there was a television program by the name of “Dragnet”. It was based on the true stories of the Los Angeles Police Department.
One of those stories featured a distraught man about to jump from a tall building. He was rescued by the police, found to be mentally incompetent, and committed to a psychiatric hospital. Seven months later he took his own life.
I thought to myself, how many today by rejecting Jesus Christ and His Gospel will take their own life, and fall into the pit of eternal death and damnation.
Yes, we have a choice. We can choose to trust Christ for our salvation or reject him and being already condemned pay the penalty of sin, death, and eternal punishment.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Many, like that man will hear the Gospel of Christ, come so close to the kingdom of God, and at the last, reject Jesus Christ and not be saved.
Unlike the story of that man who was saved from jumping from the building and aoon after took his own life, salvation through Jesus Christ is once for all and without repentance.
The Scriptures say: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans10: 9 – 13
Safe in the arms of Jesus.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24
